Connecting the hosted Patchworks MCP to Claude

Introduction

Connecting Claude to the hosted Patchworks MCP server is straightforward - all required setup can be completed in your Claude client.

Need to know

  • A Claude Pro account (or higher) is required to connect remote MCP servers.

  • To connect the Patchworks MCP, you add a custom connector in Claude's settings. This guide walks through these steps using a standard Pro account - if you have a different subscription, the navigation paths detailed here may vary.

  • The URL for the hosted Patchworks MCP server is: https://mcp.wearepatchworks.com/api/v1/mcp

  • To complete the steps detailed in this guide, you will need an MCP key. Please refer to Generating a Patchworks MCP key for instructions.

The steps

Prepare credentials

Ensure that your Patchworks MCP key is to hand, ready to copy/paste later in this stage.

Access connector settings

Launch your Claude client, then access settings. For example:

Add a new custom connector

Click the add custom connector button:

Configure basic details for the custom connector

Authenticate the custom connector

Click the advanced settings option:

Paste your Patchworks MCP key into the OAuth Client ID (optional) field, then click add to confirm. For example:

An OAuth Client Secret is not required.

The Patchworks MCP is added:

Make a connection

Click the connect button associated with your new Patchworks MCP connector:

Then confirm the Claude connection when prompted in your browser. For example:

Configure the connection

Click the configure button associated with your new Patchworks MCP connector:

Then confirm when Claude is allowed to use the Patchworks MCP. For example:

Set this option as required for your organisational needs.

Test the connection

Start a new chat in the Claude client and enter a command to confirm that the connection is working. For example: Get all my process flows:

If you experience connection issues, make sure that your MCP key is correct and/or that a Patchworks MCP server is deployed.
