# Roles & permissions summary (services) ## Introduction This page details roles and permissions which are applicable if you have not upgraded to Patchworks Core, and therefore run services instead of process flows to sync data. Generally, roles and permissions are the same and [role summary tables detailed for Core](/product-documentation/users-roles-and-permissions/roles-and-permissions-summary.md#roles-and-permissions-summary) will apply. However, there are some differences, as summarised below. ## Roles User accounts can be associated with one of five possible roles: * Administrator * Manager * User * Read-only * Advanced editor\* {% hint style="info" %} \* In certain areas of service setup (for example, service source/destination settings and mappings), a JSON editor is available. Typically, these editors are only required by Patchworks administrators however - upon request - users may be assigned a new **advanced editor** role which provides access to JSON editors throughout the dashboard. This role is a supplementary role - it should always be added alongside an *Administrator*, *Manager*, *User* or *Read Only* role. {% endhint %} ### Service connectors Connector permissions refer to features that are available from the [service connectors](https://app.wearepatchworks.com/connections) page.
