# How to deactivate/activate a service

## Overview

There may times where you need to deactivate an active service - for example, if it's no longer required, or if you are investigating a query.

{% hint style="info" %}
The number of active services allowed depends on your subscription tier, so it's good housekeeping to deactivate a service if it's no longer used.
{% endhint %}

The option to deactivate/activate a service can be found on the **service settings** tab. For further information please see the [service settings](/product-documentation/patchworks-services/working-with-services/the-anatomy-of-a-service/service-settings.md) page.
