# Managing team members & users for multi-company profiles

## Introduction

As a multi-company profile user with [appropriate access to manage a linked company](#criteria-for-accessing-linked-company-users), you will encounter two different types of user when you [switch into that company](/product-documentation/company-management/multi-company-profiles/switching-in-and-out-of-a-linked-company.md):

* **Native company users.** These users are directly associated with the linked company. They can log into their Patchworks dashboard with their own credentials.
* **Team members with access.** These users are directly associated with your company - they have (or can be given) [permission to manage all aspects of a linked company](/product-documentation/users-roles-and-permissions/managing-team-members-and-users-for-multi-company-profiles/working-with-your-team-members/granting-and-revoking-permission-for-an-existing-team-member-to-manage-a-linked-company.md).

## Criteria for accessing linked company users

The following criteria must be met for someone to access and manage linked company users. You must be:

* A user [associated with a multi-company profile](/product-documentation/users-roles-and-permissions/managing-team-members-and-users-for-multi-company-profiles/working-with-your-team-members/creating-a-new-team-member-to-manage-linked-companies.md)\
 \
 AND
* Your multi-company profile is [associated with linked companies](/product-documentation/company-management/multi-company-profiles/adding-and-linking-a-new-company.md).\
 \
 AND
* Your user account has a [manager or administrator role](/product-documentation/users-roles-and-permissions/managing-team-members-and-users-for-multi-company-profiles/working-with-your-team-members/assigning-user-roles-for-an-existing-team-member.md).\
 \
 AND
* You have been [granted permission to manage the linked company](/product-documentation/users-roles-and-permissions/managing-team-members-and-users-for-multi-company-profiles/working-with-your-team-members/granting-and-revoking-permission-for-an-existing-team-member-to-manage-a-linked-company.md) in question.

## What next?

If you meet this criteria then you can [switch into a company that you manage](/product-documentation/company-management/multi-company-profiles/switching-in-and-out-of-a-linked-company.md) and:
